Install enables you to install a part directly for a site, at top level of the part tree or, under a specific part. For Cases, you can install parts only from Part Catalogs as, cases have multiple work orders and each of them are assigned to different FE. So, you cannot install a part from Inventory or Part Order.

Steps:

  1. On the Log Parts Used dialog box, in the Part Use Type drop down, select image1351.gifInstall.

  2. In the Use Part From drop down:

    1. Select Part Catalog to view the list of all the parts from Part Catalog. The list includes all the parts from the complete Business Unit Hierarchy Structure.

    2. Select Inventory to view the list of all the parts from the inventory that is associated to the Work Order.

    3. Select Part Order to view the list of all the parts of the Part Orders that are associated to the Work Order.

image1337.gifIf you are installing a part from a case then, you must select only Part Catalog. If you are installing part from Work Order then, based on the requirement, you can select either Part Catalog or Inventory or Part Order.

  1. Revision and Description fields automatically display information if the part has any.

  2. In the Serial Number field, if the selected part is a serialized part then, the information automatically populates. For non-serialized part, Quantity field appears in place of Serial Number field.

image1337.gifIf Use Part From is a Part Catalog then, you need to enter Serial Number manually.

  1. Check Update Site Assets check box to update the part in Site Assets.

  2. Check Install at Top Level check box to install the part at top level of the tree structure.

image1337.gifA part can be installed at top level or under any part or anywhere based on its domain nature.

  1. Install Under field displays the part under which, you can install present part. If you select Install at Top Level check box then, Install Under field displays the name of the Site, indicating that you can install a top level part directly under a site.

  2. Select Install Date, Part Status and enter Asset Tag information.

  3. Enter Notes.

  4. Click Save and Close.
